Now that the grieving is starting it's second phase by us Kentucky fans realizing that we just aren't there yet with our football program, we can at least look at some positives from Saturday night. My takeaway from the night, that I think we should focus on, is the fact that the game was never out of reach for Kentucky, and although we lost and it never seemed we had it together, I did feel like Kentucky was still is in the realm of winning the game until the final drive was not successful. If I think back through my lifetime of Kentucky football, when playing Florida, Kentucky has not had to many games against Florida that seemed winnable. Sure there were teams that we thought could beat Florida but when the game actually started, there aren't to many past games that felt winnable throughout the whole game.
Now Kentucky has had two straight years of that winnable feeling during the game, and I truly believe that Kentucky will end the streak within the next two years. Last years game was was in the palm of Kentucky's hands and this years games was within reach, even though Kentucky never played to what we know they can.
So, in case you aren't getting my point I am telling you that Saturdays game was encouraging for the fact that Kentucky played like poo on the offensive side and yet Kentucky still could have won that game. This is what good teams do, they have bad nights that they don't seem to be playing like the norm but a good team will find a way to keep themselves in the game to the point that they could win the game, and really good teams win those games despite their poor performance. As of now Kentucky is a good team with signs showing they are on their way to being really good. Now let's stand behind our team and watch them as they will soon be doing things that we never thought Kentucky football could do.
